Susanrachel Condon,
CCCE, LMT, LM, CLC

Susanrachel, a.k.a. Birdie, graduated from the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn Midwifery Program in 1998. She is a licensed in New York as a Midwife and Ob-Gyn Nurse Practitioner. She is also certified to teach childbirth preparation, newborn care and breastfeeding classes by the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York. She served two terms as President of the CEAMNY Board of Directors and is the Hudson Valley Regional Representative on the Board of Directors of the NYS Association of Licensed Midwives. Susanrachel holds a BFA in Art Therapy, an MA in Women’s Studies/History of Ideas and has studied birth counseling with Gayle Peterson and counseling for pregnant survivors of sexual abuse with Penny Simkin. She is the mother of Hannah, Daniel and Malcolm.

Whitney Hall,
CCE, LM, CLC

Whitney started her midwifery education apprenticing in a home birth practice in Santa Barbara, California in 1990. Throughout the next decade, she practiced at several birth centers including the Tennessee Birth Place with Amish and Mennonite women, Casa Maternidad in El Paso, Texas and later at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Whitney graduated from SUNY with her MS in Midwifery in 2003. She is credentialed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives as a Certified Midwife and is licensed in New York State. She has three children, whom she breastfed for over ten years, is a certified lactation counselor, and a childbirth educator. Whitney is President of the NYS Association of Birth Centers and aspires to create a political landscape in which all women may receive care and give birth in the places they prefer – in hospitals, birth centers, or their homes. In her spare time, Whitney is an avid fiber spinner and knits from her own spun yarn.

Susan Rannestad,
LM, IBCLC

Susan is the mother of three grown children. After the hospital birth of her son Paul, Susan began her studies in maternity care in Germany and continued them later in the US. She worked as a Childbirth Educator, La Leche League Leader and ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) Board Member. Susan finished her apprenticeship in midwifery after the home births of her daughters Erica and Michaela and became a Certified Professional Midwife through NARM, The North American Registry of Midwives. She received her Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from the National College of Midwifery and currently serves on their faculty. Susan is a New York State licensed Certified Midwife and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is Vice President of the New York State Association of Licensed Midwives.

Students

Hudson Valley Midwifery is currently an educational site for four universities in New York, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. We are adjunct faculty for the State University of NY, Frontier Nursing University, the University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia College. We are pleased to offer graduate student midwives and opportunity to learn in a family centered, midwife-owned, private practice.
